Cartridge pool filters

Cartridge filtration has been available for a relatively long time, but only recently has it begun to enjoy rapid growth and acceptance. Cartridge pool filters and their cartridge elements are made with a spunbonded, 100% polyester material called Reemay¬. Developed by Dupont and adapted to cartridge filtration.

When water passes through a pool cartridge filter, dirt is screened out at the surface of the cartridge element. When clean, the element will trap larger particles, with finer particles being filtered out as the pores of the element become clogged by the larger debris. In most areas cartridge pool filters are less expensive than diatomaceous earth filters but cost more that sand filters. However pool cartridge filters are more popular because of the minimal maintenance involved. They are a good compromise between the inefficiency of a sand filter and the problems associated with a D.E. filter. These pool cartridge filters can trap particles as small as 5 to 10 microns in size (dirt impossible to see with the naked eye).

The cartridge element can be removed and cleaned by pressure washing inside and out with a garden hose.
