Suction vs. Pressure swimming pool cleaners

Suction pool cleaners
Suction cleaners are ideal for pools located in desert and tropical climates with cleaning requirements for fine particles of dirt and small leaves and twigs. They can be installed through the skimmer or on a dedicated line in less than 15 minutes and do not require additional tools. Suction Hayward inground pool vacuum cleaners are the Navigator and Pool Vac Ultra.

Pressure pool cleaners
Unlike suction cleaners, pressure cleaners must be installed on a dedicated line and require a booster pump to work effectively. While a booster pump will require additional energy, you will run your entire system less time and more efficiently. Pressure side Hayward inground pool vacuum cleaners are the Phantom and Viper.

Hayward Viper pressure cleaner

Hayward's NEW Viper does the dirty work so you don't have to. Viper utilizes exclusive AquaDrive Programmable Technology to intelligently maneuver around the pool with a minimum time spent in reverse. Whether its vinyl, fiberglass or a plaster finish, Viper cuts a cleaning path 41% wider (7-3/4 in.) than its nearest competitor. Viper runs off a booster pump and is propelled by water propulsion rather than drive wheels thereby removing the danger to vinyl liners. The Viper comes with 32' of hose and it'll work with all brands of booster pumps or you can select Hayward's booster pump. It comes with a 1 year warranty.
